ed.space calls together all those who care about education and issues a challenge – to make a radical difference to the learning experiences of children and young people.
ed.space is more than a conference; it’s a place where action and change originates. ed.space poses a single breakthrough question:
If we knew the answers to this question it would radically improve the learning experiences of children and young people.
ed.space acts as a catalyst and platform for action. We hold amazing events that bring together people who care about the breakthrough question. We support projects that nurture the actions that our community decides to initiate and pursue.

Founders Mark Hodierne and Rupert Widdicombe recorded this video about their idea for ed.space:
The core ed.space team is a group of people who have been involved in a wide variety of educational reform programmes. We orchestrate our energy and action around the breakthrough question - and we aim to connect with a vibrant community that has the power to bring about positive change for children and young people.
ed.space does not have any formal organisational structure - we seem to be doing quite nicely without one for the moment! "Experiment" probably best describes us right now - we are taking some action and seeing what happens - finding good starting points and working with flow. We use an existing limited company as a vehicle for operating, but ed.space is a not-for-profit venture. All ed.space activities are funded by both founders and contributions from members of our community.
“We all get out of bed in the morning because we think we can make a difference – ed.space is a new and unique way of making a difference.” Participant, ed.space Manchester, July 2010
